You’re halfway there (!) and the pieces are officially clicking into place. This is where the momentum builds. Think: contracts signed, hotel blocks reserved, and playlists curated. It’s equal parts dreamy and logistical, but you’re doing amazing. Here’s what to do at 6 months out:
Finalize remaining vendors
- Book your officiant (especially if it’s someone you know personally or a non-traditional ceremony).
- Secure your transportation (for you, your crew, and possibly guests).
Reserve hotel blocks
- Set aside rooms for out-of-town guests. Include the info on your website or save-the-dates.
Build your wedding playlist
- Start your music must-play list for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dance floor.
- Share a ‘do-not-play’ list with your DJ or band too (no shade to the chicken dance).
Schedule your hair & makeup trials
- Do a test run of your glam look with any accessories you plan to wear. Make it fun: bring your MOH, sip something bubbly.
Order invitations & signage
- Now’s the time to finalize wording, print timelines, and design any custom signage.
Draft your ceremony outline
- Start working with your officiant on the order of events.
- Begin writing your vows (or at least start brainstorming what you want to say).
Sprinkle-in extras:
- Schedule dress/suit fittings for the months ahead.
- Think about guest experience details: signature drinks, welcome bags, handwritten notes.
- Shop for gifts (wedding party, parents, partner) while you have time.
What couples often skip At This Stage (but shouldn’t):
- Forgetting hotel blocks or underestimating how fast accommodations can fill up.
- Waiting too long to test hair and makeup – you want time to pivot if needed.
- Not having a backup plan for music or AV, especially for outdoor weddings.
